AGREEMENT TO TERMS
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Client," "you," or "your") and Laura Educare, operated by Laura ("Laura," "we," "us," or "our"), regarding your use of our website at lauraeducare.com and the services we offer.
By accessing our website or booking any of our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not book or use our services.
1. ABOUT OUR SERVICES
Laura Educare is an early childhood education service based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, operated by a certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with over 9 years of professional experience. We offer the following services:
Children's Tutoring
Personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions for children Pre-K to Grade 2, focused on early literacy, numeracy, and foundational learning skills.
Babysitting
Safe, enriching in-home childcare providing attentive supervision and age-appropriate activities for children in your home.
Special Needs Support
Individualized one-on-one sessions for children with diverse learning needs, using inclusive, play-based, and trauma-informed approaches.
All services are provided by Laura personally. Laura Educare does not employ or subcontract other caregivers or educators.
2. PROFESSIONAL SCOPE AND DISCLAIMER
Laura is a certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE). Her services are educational and caregiving in nature and do not constitute therapy, psychology, counselling, medical advice, diagnosis, or any form of clinical or therapeutic intervention.
Parents or guardians seeking therapeutic, psychological, or medical support for their child should consult a qualified medical or mental health professional. Laura's Special Needs Support service is designed to complement — not replace — professional therapeutic or medical services your child may already be receiving.
Laura will collaborate with families and, where appropriate, with other professionals involved in a child's care, but cannot guarantee specific developmental outcomes.
3. SCOPE OF BABYSITTING SERVICES
Babysitting sessions provided by Laura Educare are dedicated exclusively to the care, supervision, and wellbeing of your child. The following are expressly outside the scope of babysitting services:
- Household cleaning or tidying
- Laundry or ironing
- Cooking meals for adults in the household
- Running errands
- Any other domestic or household task
By booking a babysitting session, you acknowledge and agree that Laura's sole responsibility during the session is the care of your child.
4. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT
Laura Educare accepts bookings for children aged 6 months and older. Services for children under 6 months of age are not offered.
5. BOOKING AND PAYMENT
5.1 Booking Confirmation
All bookings are made through the online booking system at lauraeducare.com. A booking is not confirmed until full payment has been received. You will receive a booking confirmation email once payment is successfully processed.
5.2 Payment
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We accept all major credit and debit cards. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). By completing a booking, you authorize the charge to your payment method for the total amount displayed at checkout.
5.3 Receipts
A payment receipt will be sent to your email address automatically by Stripe upon successful payment. This receipt may be used for personal expense records or Canadian childcare tax deduction purposes (Line 21400 — Child Care Expenses).
5.4 Session Confirmation
Laura will follow up by email or phone within 24 hours of a confirmed booking to confirm session details, discuss your child's needs, and answer any questions you may have.
6. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
We understand that schedules change. The following cancellation policy applies to all services:

6.5 Cancellation by Laura
In the unlikely event that Laura must cancel a session, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no additional cost. Laura will provide as much notice as possible in such circumstances.
6.6 How to Cancel
To cancel a session, please contact Laura directly by email at laura@lauraeducare.com as soon as possible. Cancellations are recorded based on the date and time the email is received.
7. LATE RETURN POLICY (Babysitting Only)
Babysitting sessions end at the agreed time confirmed in your booking. A grace period of 10 minutes is provided at no additional charge.
If you are not home by the agreed session end time, a late return fee of $10.00 CAD per 15 minutes (or part thereof) will apply and will be invoiced via Stripe following the session.
By agreeing to these Terms at the time of booking, you acknowledge and accept the late return fee policy. Late return fees are not negotiable and constitute part of the contractual agreement between you and Laura Educare.
8. ILLNESS POLICY
The health and safety of all children in Laura's care is our top priority.
8.1 Child illness
Children must be fever-free and free of contagious symptoms for a minimum of 24 hours before attending a session. Symptoms include but are not limited to: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, persistent cough, conjunctivitis (pink eye), or any other signs of contagious illness.
8.2 Illness discovered at session start
If a child arrives visibly unwell, Laura reserves the right to cancel the session. In this case, a full refund or complimentary reschedule will be offered.
8.3 Illness during a session
If a child becomes unwell during a session, Laura will notify the parent or guardian immediately. The parent or guardian is expected to arrange pickup as soon as possible.
8.4 Laura's illness
If Laura is unwell and unable to deliver a session safely, she will notify you as early as possible and offer a full refund or reschedule at no additional cost.
9. PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
Laura does not photograph, video record, or otherwise capture images of children in her care without explicit prior written consent from the parent or legal guardian.
If parents or guardians wish to share photographs or recordings from sessions on social media or any public platform, they are solely responsible for obtaining consent from all other families or individuals who may appear in such content.
10. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
By booking our services, you confirm that:
- You are the parent or legal guardian of the child, or have explicit authorization from the parent or legal guardian to book services on their behalf
- All information provided about your child — including age, health considerations, special needs, and emergency contacts — is accurate and complete
- You will inform Laura of any changes to your child's health, medication, or circumstances that may affect the delivery of services
- You will ensure your home environment is safe and appropriate for the delivery of in-home services
- You will be reachable by phone during all babysitting and in-home sessions
11. EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
In the event of a medical emergency involving your child, Laura will call 911 immediately and then contact you. By booking our services, you authorize Laura to consent to emergency medical treatment on behalf of your child if you cannot be reached in a timely manner.
You are responsible for providing accurate emergency contact information at the time of booking.
12. RIGHT TO REFUSE OR TERMINATE SERVICES
Laura Educare reserves the right to refuse or immediately terminate services, without refund, in the following circumstances:
- The client or any member of the household behaves in an abusive, threatening, harassing, or unsafe manner toward Laura
- The home environment is found to be unsafe for Laura or the child
- False or misleading information was provided at the time of booking
- The client repeatedly violates these Terms of Service
- Any other circumstance that, in Laura's reasonable judgment, makes it inappropriate or unsafe to continue delivering services
In cases where termination is due to circumstances beyond the client's control, a pro-rated refund may be offered at Laura's discretion.
13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Laura Educare provides services with the highest standard of care and professionalism. However, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Laura Educare's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or our services shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific session giving rise to the claim
- Laura Educare is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Laura Educare is not responsible for pre-existing conditions, allergies, or medical circumstances that were not disclosed at the time of booking
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Canadian law.
14. PRIVACY
Your personal information and your child's information are collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at lauraeducare.com/privacy-policy. By agreeing to these Terms, you also acknowledge and agree to our Privacy Policy.
15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
Laura Educare reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. The updated version will be posted at lauraeducare.com/terms-of-service with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
For existing bookings made prior to any change, the Terms in effect at the time of booking will apply.
16. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada.
